Heather has completed a 300 hour Precision Alignment Yoga teacher training through the Southern Institute of Yoga Instructors and has been teaching for 4 years. She is also studying physical therapy to further expand on the therapeutic benefits of alignment yoga.
The best teachers remain lifelong students. With a teacher like Emma, I take away something invaluable from every lesson. I discovered yoga after Emma helped me realize how much control over my insides I have with just my breath. I’ve had a heart condition called SVT for as long as I can remember and through the practice of yoga, and specifically syncing my breath with my movements, I have been able to gain control of my condition without the use of medication.
My asana philosophy is simple; props are for pros! I like to share with people that props should not be used as a “handicap”, but should be treated as part of the pose; an extension of ourselves. It’s the truest way to bring the body back to alignment and to accommodate EVERY body. At The Yoga Shed, we are fortunate enough to have all the blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters at our disposal, as well as the yoga wall. With the breath as our primary focus, I love being able to share with students the power we posses over our own bodies. Yoga unites body, mind and breath, and my goal is to allow every student to feel at home in their bodies, knowing they can start exactly where they are.
