Alignment Slow Flow
Sundays | 9 am – 10:15 am
Using the principles of Precision Alignment Yoga, the postures are taught in a flow sequence, moving from one posture into the next. We unravel the body by building from simple range of motion exercises, to foundation postures, to more challenging strength and flexibility postures. We focus on maintaining healthy alignment of the body while moving fluidly and gracefully throughout the sequences. Modifications will be offered. So, if you are an absolute beginner or an experienced practitioner, you can approach this class safely, and at the same time, be challenged both physically and mentally.
Alignment I (Beginners)
Mondays | 5:30 pm – 6:45 pm
Join Melissa Garcia for a Precision Alignment yoga class with a focus on using movement to improve specific areas of the body (particularly areas that are weak due to poor posture). We’ll get creative, use the yoga wall (sling and ropes), blocks, straps, chairs, resistance bands and fascia balls.
Every last Monday of the month will be a myofascial release class. This class is for easing tension and tight muscles, and getting into deep stretches to relax the area of focus for the month.
This class is for all-levels; the perfect class for anyone looking to gain better understanding of basic anatomy, improve their posture, ease back into yoga practice after a break, and bring creativity and strength to your asana practice.
Alignment II
Wednesdays | 9 am – 10:15 am
In this class, you will learn how to use alignment principles to improve form and expand awareness through the yoga postures (asana) and breath work (pranayama), building both strength and flexibility of body and mind.
You will learn precise ways to position the body in order to gain maximum benefits from the yoga postures and avoid injury. You will explore the creative use of props, while expanding your awareness of the physical body and developing courage and a sense of playful creativity.
You can expect to use lots of props in this class, perform asanas for longer and with more repetitions, including inversions. An inversion practice is not required, but you should have a firm grasp of the standing poses and the basics of precision alignment yoga.
Yoga Wall
Wednesdays | 5:30 pm – 6:45 pm
This is a popular class, given that we have the only Yoga Wall in central Florida! If you’ve never practiced with ropes and slings, you’ll find they are an excellent tool to create stability, length and lightness in the poses.
Through the principles of Precision Alignment Yoga, in this class you will explore the postures using the Yoga Wall as your primary tool to assist in aligning the body. With the help of the yoga wall slings, ropes, and even the wall itself you can create buoyancy in the poses while building strength and flexibility within both the body and the mind.
Back Care
Friday | 9 am – 10:15 am
This is an all levels class, appropriate for anyone looking to relieve common back aches or create better posture and avoid pain.
Using basic Precision Alignment Yoga principles, you will learn to maintain health of the spine and move out of habitual behaviors that are common sources of back and neck pain.
“Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured.” ~B.K.S Iyengar
